Pucker up!

Believe it or not, the lips are easy to damage, not only are they delicate as they don't produce melanin and oil glands but combined with other factors it could be the root of all your lip problems. So we can’t stress enough how important it is to give your lips some much-needed TLC and we’re not talking about just slapping on some lip balm whenever your lips feel a little chapped. Taking care of your smackers can actually improve a person’s appearance and could go with any look. So why not give our top tips a try?

Licking is a no-no!

Making it a habit to lick your pips can actually damage and dry it out even further. As we’ve said before lip is prone to damage as they don’t have protection of their own.

Up your water intake

Moisture is key for treating the lips and making sure to keep yourself hydrated especially during in extreme temperatures are a sure-fire way to soothe parched lips.

Balms away

Aside from drinking plenty of water, applying lip balms is also another way to keep your lips hydrated just make sure to do it routinely. Look for balms that have beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E and almond, jojoba or coconut oils because they’re extremely hydrating and filled with nutrients that we’re sure your lips are going to love.

Scrub, scrub, scrub!

Lip exfoliators work the same way face or body exfoliators do, they slough off dead skin cells promoting cell turnover for a healthier and soft-looking pout. We recommend you do it once or twice weekly though, to prevent the skin from getting too irritated.

Sun of a-!

Like any part of the skin, the lips do take UV damage from the sun perhaps more than any other part of the body because it lacks its own protection. So taking precaution and lessening sun exposure if possible can do wonders for your troubled lips.

You are what you eat

Much like with anything that ails and troubles the body, eating healthy can be one of the surefire solutions to dry and chapped lips. Stocking up on food that are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids like walnuts and fish will help a lot in getting your lips to look healthier as they make the skin and lips look amazing.

Reduce the use of matte lippies

Matte lipsticks while beautiful to wear and long-lasting are also extremely drying and could lead to dry and chapped lips. So opting out of wearing your favorite matte lippies and finding better less drying alternatives might be a good idea.
