Most beauty junkies already know, eye creams are amazing products that do a lot to keep us looking young. But if you’re not sure whether or not to include them in your products, then we got you covered. We’ll tell you all you need to know about eye creams — from what they do and how to use them. We’ll even throw a few recommendations your way (wink wink)
Why you should use them
The skin under our eyes is probably the most sensitive areas of our face. Since the skin under our eyes are thinner and are made of muscles underneath, it may need a little more attention. This is where eye creams come in; they are made specifically for our under eyes. Here are just some of the ways eye creams can help us out:
Gets rid of puffiness - Sleep deprivation allergies and poor diet are just one of the reasons why we get puffy bags under our eyes. Eye creams help drastically improve the swelling under the eyes caused by fluid build-up by cooling it down and dispersing it.
Gets rid of dark circles - Dark circles can be caused by a number of things including, heredity, stress, sleep deprivation, and sun exposure. Eye creams with kojic acid and licorice can combat discoloration while peptides can get rid of any shadows.
Slows down signs of aging - Due to its sensitivity, the undereye area can show the first signs of aging. Eye creams correct that by driving nutrients and hydration to the under eyes effectively slowing down signs of aging.
Gets rid of fine lines - Thinner skin mixed with constant eye movement can lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. Eye creams, especially ones formulated with retinol can help boost thinning skin to smooth out fine lines.
How to use them
Step 1: Thoroughly wash, tone and moisturize your face before putting on the cream.
Step 2: Put an appropriate amount on your ring finger.
Step 3: Dot right along the under eye area right up to the lids being carefully not to put on the eyes.
Step 4: Lightly pat the product on the area using your ring finger.
When and how soon to use
The benefits of eye creams can be used as early as your 20s if you’re already suffering from dark circles and puffiness.
It should be used every morning and night.
